Tales from Earthsea (2006)

Gedo Senki / ゲド戦記

Information

Synopsis

In “Tales from Earthsea”, all is not well in the island kingdom of Earthsea: storms, droughts and plagues afflict the land, and the people sometimes behave quite strangely. Some of them even claim to have seen dragons – something that shouldn’t be possible because even though the two species were once one people, they have been going their separate ways for quite some time due to different views.

But now things are getting worse: the King of the Kingdom of Enlad dies, and Crown Prince Arren is missing – until the powerful wizard Ged, who is travelling to investigate the incidents, finally picks him up. Together, the two are transported to the city of Hort. In addition to an old acquaintance of Ged’s, the farmer Tenar, and her protégé, the young and quiet girl Theru, they also meet the wizard Cob. He is obsessed with eternal life and does not shy away from things like slavery. In addition to Ged and Therru, Cob is also particularly interested in Arren, whose dark inner conflict seems to be the sorcerer’s prey …
