Synopsis

The remains of an alien civilisation have been found on Mars. The NASA expedition that was sent there was destroyed during “First Contact”. The humans nevertheless succeed in acquiring the knowledge of the Tarsians, and their technology makes a quantum leap: interstellar space travel finally becomes possible.

Many years later, the two main characters, fifteen-year-old Mikako and Noboru, both the same age, go to the same school. Mikako is chosen by the space fleet to pilot a combat machine and goes along on the interstellar search for the origins of the Tarsians. From then on, their love is limited to exchanging mails that travel through space at the speed of light. However, the “search fleet” moves further and further away from Earth, and the exchange of mail takes longer and longer – their love threatens to sink into space and time …
