Leonor Will Never Die (2022)

Fame doesn’t last forever … Leonor Reyes, who made a name for herself as a screenwriter in the Philippine film industry in the 1980s but has since disappeared from the limelight, also had to make this painful experience. She now spends most of her time vegging out and watching bootleg DVDs at home – much to the chagrin of her son Rudy.

An ad looking for scripts for a competition finally lures her off the couch. Without further ado, Leonor sets about finishing the unfinished script for the bloody shoot’em up, “The Return of the Kwago.” But due to an unfortunate incident, she falls into a coma shortly afterwards – and her subconscious finds itself in the film script …

Ruhm währt nicht ewig … Diese schmerzliche Erfahrung musste auch Leonor Reyes machen, die sich in den 80er-Jahren der philippinischen Filmindustrie einen Namen als Drehbuchautorin gemacht hatte, inzwischen aber aus dem Rampenlicht verschwunden ist. Mittlerweile verbringt sie ihre Zeit hauptsächlich damit, dahinzuvegetieren und zu Hause Bootleg-DVDs anzusehen – sehr zum Leidwesen ihres Sohnes Rudy.

Eine Annonce, in der Drehbücher für einen Wettbewerb gesucht werden, lockt sie endlich von der Couch. Kurzerhand macht sich Leonor daran, das unfertige Drehbuch zu dem blutigen Shoot ’em up »The Return of the Kwago« zu beenden. Doch durch einen unglücklichen Zwischenfall fällt sie kurz darauf ins Koma – und ihr Unterbewusstsein findet sich im Filmdrehbuch wieder …
